Sit ups do not flatten your stomach.

In many women, sit ups contribute to bladder urgency and prolapse.  The pressure generated inside your abdomen during a sit up causes strong pressure down on your pelvic floor.

With repeated sit ups you risk aggravating or creating pelvic floor dysfunction.

Particularly if you have -

bulletno idea of correct pelvic floor tensioning
bulleta weak pelvic floor
bulleta hypertonic (too tight) pelvic floor
bulleta pelvic floor not coordinating with other core muscles
